Cynthia J. Meyer - Obituary

Cynthia MeyerCynthia "Cindy" J. Meyer

February 17, 1954 - February 8, 2022

Christian believer, mother and grandmother, Cynthia “Cindy” Jean Meyer’s love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Cynthia passed on February 8, 2022 at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with a long-term neurological disease.  She was surrounded by those she loved, who continue to honor her legacy by living as passionate Christians.

Cynthia earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Eastern Washington University, where she met her ex-husband, Richard Millard. Together they were blessed with four children: Richard, Garth, Garrett and Elisa. After raising her children, she returned to serve as a School Psychologist for public school students in the Spokane area. Cindy’s pride was in those she counseled, and in teaching her children to love God, instilling in them strong values.  Those who knew her shared a true beauty, one backed by an indomitable spirit, one that even illness could not defeat.

Simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Cindy. While raising her children, she provided unyielding support for any activity or venture that her kids might dream up, and waited with comfort and bandaids if it went wrong.  After her children left home to pursue life abroad, she loved a quiet evening with a romantic comedy and her dog, Amy. She always placed family at the center of her plans, and was quick to plan a party, bake a superhero cake, and invite everyone available.  Cindy is survived by her sons Richard, Garth (Florence), and Garrett (Amber); daughter Elisa (Jacob); mother Jane; brothers John, Dan, Tom, and Jay; sisters Karen and Jody; granddaughters Waverly and Betty; former husband Michael; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father John; and nephew Joshua.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at Northview Bible Church (13251 N. Mill Road in Spokane). This service will also be live-cast online, for those unable to attend in person.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to her favorite charity, the Union Gospel Mission.
