David Dean Lakin

June 11, 1971 - October 20, 2021 - Age 50

David Dean Lakin, “Dave”, was born June 11, 1971 in Bellflower, California. At the age of 4, his parents moved to Idaho, where he spent his younger years. He attended Lakes Jr. High School in Rathdrum, Idaho & Mount St. Michael’s Catholic school in Spokane, Washington. His favorite times as a youth were spent in Orange County, California with his grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins. As a teenager, Dave enjoyed the outdoors, basketball and playing Nintendo with his friends. As an adult he loved shooting guns with his cousins, especially Andy House. Dave ventured to Alaska in his early 20’s where he worked on crab & fishing boats. He then spent the next few decades driving tow, delivery & long-haul trucks, & also driving medical transport vehicles. One of the best highlights of his life was becoming a Grandpa. His son Logan plans on keeping Dave’s memory alive by going on the same kinds of adventures his Dad took him on.

For those who really knew Dave, he was loyal & protective, charismatic, strong, generous & kind-hearted. He was a hero! David was honored by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office in October of 2017 for being an outstanding member of our community, as his actions helped save someone’s life. Dave had a heart of gold & loved his family dearly. He is survived by his parents, Ruthie & John Lakin, son Logan, daughter-in-law Nicole, grandchildren Able & Lily, sisters Anna (Dan), Margaret & Mary, brothers Paul (Jeanne), Jay (Amy), Matthew, Brian, Michael (Cheyanna) & Tim; nephew Kaleb; nieces Ahbrianna, Alleana, Madison, Ruby & Sophia.

Viewing, Rosary & Mass will be held Thursday, October 28, 11:30am at Mount St. Michael’s, 8500 N. St. Michael’s Road, Spokane 99217. David will be laid to rest at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
